 As a member of our Buildings group, you will provide insight and innovative construction solutions to ensure the successful execution of various commercial projects, such as: education facilities; hospitals and healthcare centres; office buildings; warehouse and distribution centres; retail outlets and complexes; recreational facilities; hotels and casinos; parkades; and mixed- use facilities. You will also further hone your skills operating under various delivery methods including Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3 (Public-Private Partnership), Construction Management and IPD (Integrated Project Delivery).
 
 
 

The Project Controls/Planning Manager (NOC 0711) is directly responsible for preparing and updating the construction program and providing planning and scheduling oversight to projects within the Buildings division. Projects focus on large, complex commercial construction. The Project Controls/Planning Manager is involved in all project phases from inception to handover.

 
Reporting to the Preconstruction Director, the Project Controls/Planning Manager is responsible to collaborate with client representatives on all Scheduling/Planning components of a project and coordinate with internal operations teams. 
 
The Project Controls/Planning Manager brings extensive experience as a construction planner in Design & Build projects and is able to apply their experience with a strong understanding/inclination of Project Controls, Earned Value, Risk Management, Design Management and Resource Planning process. 
 
As a Project Controls/Planning Manager at Graham you will:           
 
  • Preparation, monitoring and updating project schedules and providing planning and scheduling services to Graham project management teams
  • Develop fully resource loaded detailed project schedules and ability to monitor, maintain and report against baseline and change adjusted performance, including critical path management, resource management and forensic analysis
  • Develop, monitor and maintain overall project schedules for large commercial projects with total project values in excess of $200 million CAD
  • Creating project work breakdown structure and work packages (WBS)
  • Understand construction logic and incorporate into schedule along with milestones, constraints and resource loading
  • Understand the design, procurement and risk management processes as it relates to construction, and incorporate these processes into the project master schedule
  • Integrate third party sub trade and supplier schedules into master schedule and update on a regular basis
  • Develop cash flow and resource curves based on project estimates and master schedule
  • Generate reports on long and short term resource requirements for the project, interfacing with Operations, Owners, Estimators, and subcontractors to ensure proper planning, and to identify conflicts or problems and offer solutions
  • Monitor and update the construction schedule in line with Change Management utilizing Time Impact Analysis techniques to ensure the impact of changes are fully understood and evaluated and the critical path is monitored and maintained throughout project lifecycle
  • Analyze project performance against the critical path. Agree corrective actions with the project team where required to mitigate schedule slippage
  • Lead the tracking, reviewing and analysis of schedule utilizing forensic analysis and earned value techniques throughout all phases of the project to determine any deviations and any corrective actions required
 
To be Successful at Graham, you will have the following qualifications and experience:
 
  • Graduate of a Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Business degree or technology program or other post-secondary qualification with relevant experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience planning and scheduling on large multi-million dollar commercial or institutional projects at a senior or managerial level with project oversite from project initiation and appraisal to completion and hand over.
  • Experience with large commercial or institutional projects (Hospitals, Schools or Government) with total project values in excess of $200 million CAD.
  • Experience with a Design Build Contract Models.
  • Project Controls expertise utilizing critical path management, forensic planning and earned value techniques.
  • Must be able to analyze the effect of schedule performance on project completion
  • Exceptional knowledge of computer scheduling programs (Primavera P6, MS Project, ASTA required)
  
Compensation and Benefits:
 
  • This is a full-time, permanent role
  • Competitive salary ($140,000 - $160,000) with annual bonus potential
