Reporting to the Risk Manager, the Risk Management Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the processes that ensure that all Graham tenders and active projects carry the necessary insurance and contract bonds. The Risk Management Coordinator also reports and follows-up on straightforward insurance claims and maintains the claims reporting system
As a Risk Coordinator at Graham you will:
  • Reviews incoming tender applications for insurance and bonds along with supporting documentation (Instructions to Bidders, RFP/RFQ instructions and contract documentation) to ensure all necessary information is present; follows up with Estimators and Project Managers for missing information/applications
  • Reviews pre-qualification requirements and obtains any necessary insurance, bonding and banking documentation from Graham’s broker and bank
  • Fields questions from Operations staff about the bonding and insurance process, how premiums are calculated and paid, invoicing, and claims reporting and status
  • Submits completed requests for final/awarded bonds and insurance to the broker and ensures that insurance certificates and bonding documentation are checked for accuracy prior to forwarding completed documentation to the branches
  • Updates Toolbox “properties” to reflect the status of the insurance and bonding requests  
  • Requests insurance certificates for projects and leased equipment 
  • Assists the Manager in the implementation of new insurance and claims reporting systems and processes
  • Prepares updates to the Estimators’ Insurance and Bonding Manuals to reflect annual changes to Graham’s insurance program
  • Liaises with claims broker and adjustor on auto claims; follows up to ensure claim payments are received by Graham and its suppliers on a timely basis. Advises Project Managers and Corporate Resources staff on claims processes and documentation (including identifying what information will be required for claim submission) 
  • Resolves invoicing issues between Graham’s brokers and Project Managers to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices   
  • Maintains copies of standard Owner contract documentation, compares new requests against existing standard and identifies changes from standard documents
  • Ensures Project Status forms are completed and that project specific insurance is extended when necessary 
  • Maintains policy, endorsement and declaration documentation and ensures all relevant documentation is placed with the project or claims files as applicable 
To be Successful at Graham, you will have the following qualifications and experience:
  • College Level certificate with emphasis in Risk Management, Additional courses in insurance, bonding and risk management (e.g. CIP/CRM courses, U of C Construction Management certificate courses) would be an asset
  • Experience reviewing RFP, RFQ and contract documents, insurance certificates and bonds 
  • Basic knowledge of the different types of insurance and contract bonds required under construction contracts, as well as basic understanding of indemnification, warranty and delay provisions and the ability to identify them within contract documents
  • Knowledge of automobile insurance claims management processes, including the ability to identify what information will be required by the insurer/adjuster given the circumstances of the claim
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills, including a sense of urgency, resourcefulness and problem solving skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications effectively and the ability to run claims management software and to develop custom reports as needed
