As a member of our team, you will provide insight and innovative construction solutions to ensure the successful execution of various projects, such as: education facilities; hospitals and healthcare centers; office buildings; warehouse and distribution centers; and mixed- use facilities.
 
You will also further hone your skills operating under various delivery methods including Bid-Build, Design-Build, Construction Management and IPD (Integrated Project Delivery).
 
 
The HS&E Coordinator reports directly to the HSE manager and will have an in-depth knowledge of OH&S Acts and Associated Regulations. Job location is located onsite in Kingston, Ontario.
 
As a HS&E Coordinator at Graham you will: 
 

  • Providing advice to project management on the safety-related actions needed to maintain a higher than industry standard of safety on the job site.  This advice is based on OH&S Acts and associated Regulations, WSIB and Graham Safety and Loss Prevention rules, policies and procedures

  • Observing, inspecting and assisting site operations to ensure work is being done safely and the site is in Regulatory compliance. This will encompass 70-80% of this role’s time

  • Seeking cooperation from workers on site by the use of good interpersonal communication skills

  • Recognizing hazardous situations and act on them appropriately

  • Providing safety-specific training to individuals and groups

  • Working efficiently and effectively with employees and management, often in stressful situations, and sometimes in demanding or time sensitive situations

  • Staying up-to-date of the latest changes to the applicable legislation

  • Travelling for extended periods of time and/or working away from home is a requirement of the role (approximately 20%)

 

To be successful at Graham, you will have the following qualifications and experience:

 

  • Four years practical site construction experience, as a Health, Safety and Environment Advisor, working on Commercial, Water, Wastewater, and/or Institutional projects

  • Strong knowledge and work experience of OH&S and associated Regulations as applicable for location of responsibility (Ontario)

  • Certified Safety Officer (CHSO, CSO or NCSO) minimum requirement

  • COR audit experience is considered an asset

  • High School Graduate (diploma in Health & Safety is preferred)

  • Advanced First Aid or higher

  • Construction Trade Certification is desirable but not required

  • Knowledge and experience in Quality is a definite asset
